How do they work? 
These are
passive coolers, that is you put cold food in them and the
insulation slows any warming of the contents to the extent that ice will
still be present 5 - 7 - 10 even 13 days later. So do I have to do anything
to make them work? Yes but not much - use pre chilled / frozen content,
fill as much as possible, open as infrequently as possible and keep out
of direct sunlight as much as possible.
The
filling bit is important, you must have everything cold when loading and
should try to pack tightly and generously.
Our
high performance medical grade ice packs are excellent additions but don't be
afraid to freeze cartons of water to 'make weight' and even to throw in
a bag of
supermarket ice as a top up if on the move. Will they keep food
from my deep freeze frozen? Yes they will for quite a time but note this
is not to commercial frozen food standards - that requires a constant
-18ºC and only an active mobile freezer can
provide that -
and at a price of course. Another practical
tip; do remember the weight when full especially in larger sizes -
that's why we offer the folding carriers too! All that aside these
