A brilliant product from Telair:  These split and dual power split units come in two versions, one is mains only and the other is bi-power running on either mains or battery. They aren't cheap but these air-conditioners are among the very best and most flexible systems for motorhomes. The split system allows the cool air outlet to be separated from the main working unit so that only a small and lightweight device goes on the roof while the heavier condenser unit and power supply is kept low down in the vehicle, even slung underneath. 

This is of particular advantage on the bi-power unit since the heavy 12v battery cable has only a short run to the main refrigeration unit. These systems use relatively low current for their cooling to preserve battery life and their low start-up current makes them ideal for use on sites where the power supply is limited. Where adequate reserves of battery power or recharging are available the moderate average absorbed current means the unit can be run while stationary and so the camper can be fully independent and still remain cool.

Telair's own description:  Air conditioners in the Split range are suitable for installation on caravans and campers of various sizes. These conditioners consist of two separate units (Condenser & Evaporator) connected together by two 'Rilsan tubes' of small diameter (6 and 10 mm.) which may be easily accommodated even in small spaces.  The condenser can be installed inside storage chests, wardrobes or positioned under beds whereas the evaporator (cold air ventilator) can be installed in place of a roof vent or other suitably sized roof opening. Great care has been taken to provide silent ventilation in order to offer the utmost comfort within the vehicle. 

Split 7000 - 12001 - 12002:  The Split 12002 model is suitable for large sized campers and consists of a condenser and two ventilators that can be installed on the roof in two separate positions in order to provide improved cool air distribution. The Split 7000 and 12001 models each have a single aerator.

Split BiPower 4500 - 7000:  These universal air-conditioners operate on both 12 and 230 volts for campers and caravans. In transit, the system is directly powered by battery, while on arrival it can be simply connected to the 230-volt socket on the camping site’s electric grid.  To ensure correct 12-volt operation, a high capacity battery (minimum 100A/h) is required.  Buy Now >>>
