Kantop Isomatten & Hindermann Four-Seasons & Polar Fold-down Cab Screens

"Silver Screens" is used here like 'Hoover' and 'Biro' and 'Caravanette' to identify a well known product group. These are not the original Silver Screens brand as sold by J & M Designs.

Four-Seasons Fold-Down External Screens:  These excellent external silvered insulated screens do a brilliant job of keeping heat in during the winter months but out during high summer - so definitely a well named 'four-seasons' product!  External screens are the best performers for insulation and reducing condensation but have always been tedious to remove and replace every day. Not so with these though because the front section is designed for easy turn-down to any position using heavy duty velcro - so no need to remove them every day if you're not moving on. These motorhome screens cover windscreen and cab doors in a single piece and are easily fitted with no screwing or drilling. They also have small eyelets built into the screen material so you can fit your own elastic straps (not supplied) to further anchor the screens to the wheel arch. They also have some allowance for vent covering (but not as much as the ones below). Made by Hindermann in Germany from a new waterproof thermal sheeting with alu-vaporized polyester film that has been UV stabilized for long life and come complete with a no quibble money back guarantee - another great product and already heading into the best seller list!  All versions listed below.

A note about 4-Seasons fit:  Feedback on the 4-seasons screens has been excellent but as with all external screens the fit can vary if the motorhome has some added part that gets in the way. This is increasingly common on low profiles and finding its way onto some over-cabs too. These aerodynamic additions at the corners of the roof and/or at the rear of the door or tight over the screen can obstruct the fit an cause these silvered multi-layer one-piece screens to pucker up. It seems to have been a problem on Transit particularly, possibly due to the door shape. A very low over-cab leaving nowhere for the silver screen to go above the windscreen might also cause some puckering. Standard panel van conversions, e.g. 'campervans', are of course fine. This may be a largely cosmetic rather than a functional issue since you are able to force the side screens initially into a shape that will sit comfortably - but we wanted to let you know about it. But - the Kantop screens below are more adjustable around the windscreen due to their 3-part velcro linked design - allowing you to pre-position the screen portion rather lower in relation to the sides.

Note the thoughtful design generously covering the external vents just below the windscreen to prevent unwelcome winter draughts through the cab vents. These German cab insulation external screens are of bonded construction so remain free of water ingress problems. Highly reflective for both summer and winter use. Supplied in 3 pieces, the sides have flaps that are placed over the corner of the cab doors, you then fix them together with Velcro and secure everything with elastic straps which fit over the body to the wheel-arches to hold the screen set firmly in place, all very neat and close fitting which is of course good for insulation. Velcro, straps, etc. supplied but we do recommend the optional cord kit to enhance stability - especially of the vent covering flap in windy conditions. Some customers have added their own long elastic strap across the screen above the vent cover for such use but do take care not to bend the fabric sharply. 

Turn-down?  Well not fold-down as such. The nature of the material means you should move-down by repositioning the front panel via the Velcro on the sides or by loosely rolling down. This gives longer life without damage. Kantop screens should not be folded in use or in storage - only rolled. The 3-piece design does make the use of the optional elastic straps near essential when turned down.

Dates & Other Vehicles:  Dates given are nominally chassis build dates and not registration dates so you do need to be especially careful at model change-over points, many late 2006 and early 2007 vehicles can be a problem if not correctly identified. Our own motorhome chassis was built 20 months before it was registered so if in doubt please do ask for help. The blue Boxer-Ducato examples illustrated here are quite distinctively the later 2007-on model. Also the 2002-2006 Ducato-Boxer facelift model has smooth clear headlamp glass, if your headlamps are squarish with patterned glass then that is the earlier model and we can't help you with this particular range of screens.
