Create More Space:  Many motorcaravanners feel the need for swivelling front seats to create extra living space or even just to ease the process of getting from cab to living space. So whether looking for these new features or simply upgrading from an indifferent product these top quality seat swivels are for you!  Choose between the Mapa and Fasp brands - both excellent. Mapa are supplied as boxed sets whereas Fasp are supplied as 'bare' workshop products. Both types fit standard seats only.

Newer Models & Airbags!  Important Info!  Many new vehicles are fitted with ever more sophisticated airbag systems and 2007 models especially are going in for side airbags with elements of the system associated with the seats. Working on a vehicle with airbags presents special hazards and cautions and all the more so if the system is tied in with the seat structure. In these circumstances best advice is to have swivels workshop fitted by professionals with access to all the correct procedures. Latest advice is that it is necessary to pre-disconnect the battery on 2007 models following correct manufacturer procedures, failure to observe these might result in an airbag error warning which can only be dealer reset. On a few models you might have to make cosmetic trim adjustments or even some more serious modifications. Please note that 'franchise' mechanics are not usually prepared nor allowed to do this. NB: Re Instructions:  These are rarities with swivels of both brands. You are expected to use your local DIY skills to sort out how to do it, this isn't rocket science as they say, but you might have to think about the process. These are handed units for lh or rh use - so do note the general principle of the seat swivelling only 'inwards'. Some confusion arises about handle positions; on the older Fasp style with black handles the handles are mostly on the outside, while on the newer Fasp & Mapa with orange handles these are mostly on the inside and usually curve upwards. Some swivels have different arrangements like lift handles at the front for example. These swivels are successfully sold all over Europe but we get a fair number of "doesn't fit" calls, the vast majority of these are due to a) trying to fit them upside down and/or back to front. b) confusing registration year with the more important date of chassis manufacture - these can be years apart on motorcaravans! Many new models were introduced in late 2006 but didn't generally find their way onto motorhomes until 2007 and are referred to here as '07-on'. An example 07 van is shown left. c) Attempting to fit at floor level instead of between seat box & seat and d) not understanding that there may be substantial diy involved even down to using a hacksaw to cut bits off, also seat trim mods are common.

Swivel Direction:  Modern swivels turn inwards (only) to expand living space and the handle is often now placed under the inside hand. These swivels are not designed to aid entry & exit from the vehicle! 

NB: Our descriptions LH & RH refer to the seat & swivel position as seen from the normal driving position, they do not refer to swivelling direction. These descriptions are also independent of 'LHD' and 'RHD' issues.

Size & Weight:  These do vary quite considerably from vehicle to vehicle. The increased seat height is typically 32-44mm but the new 2007 Sprinter version has an exceptional 105mm!  Weights are typically 8-9Kg for the lighter swivels and around 12Kg for the heavier ones.

FASP Cab Seat Swivels:  According to FASP these are the number one seat swivel. Used by the majority of UK and European manufacturers where quality and safety regulations are severe as per the TÜV-homologation. These swivels are crash tested and compliant with TUV test approvals. Simple to fit as long as you are a 'nuts and bolts' DIY-er. No central bolt. No rattle or vibration. Note that fixing bolts are not supplied as standard. Swivels fit standard vehicle seats so modification may be necessary or limited movement accepted where non-standard seats are used. Note that these are 'bare' supply, rust proofed, and lubricated, but no paint, no bolts, and no instructions,  Manufacturer says warranty claims are less than 0.01%!  So just fit and forget!

MAPA Swivels for Boxer/Ducato and Transit. These are top notch painted products that come as complete boxed kits with bolts. Many workshops are now using these as their preferred choice for Ducato family and Transit and New Sprinter. Clever crash tested design based around a friction disc system and now with new versions being introduced for the 2007 model Ducato/Boxer and the 2007 model Sprinter, the latter being unusually large at 105mm thick and 12+Kg. All are great value too! See Below. 

Bolts:  Bolts are supplied with Mapa & Sportscraft but are not supplied as standard with Fasp swivels. In general you will need exactly the same number as are already fitted to your vehicle. These new high tensile bolts will secure the swivel to the base while the originals will secure the seat to the swivel. I've asked the manufacturer for a definitive list of bolts etc need but in the meantime we already know that each swivel requires: Ducato/Boxer, 4 standard bolts, 4 counter sunk bolts, 6 washers and 6 nuts and T4, 8 standard bolts, 8 washers, 4 nuts so order a small pack for either of those. At the opposite wend of the scale the Vito takes 16 standard bolts, 16 washers, 16 nuts so order the large pack in this case. When you order the appropriate sized set below we will include all the necessary items for your particular model.

Swivelling: All swivels of whatever brand might need some seat adjustment to enable the turn. Steering wheels, handbrakes and even door grabs & pockets are all known to cause minor obstruction sometimes. In more difficult cases you might have to release the handbrake, open a door, or slide-tilt-rotate-slide to get full function. This is all down to the relative positions and sizes of the cab fittings not down to the swivel!!

ISRI: Please note that although 'ISRI' seats may have been fitted by the converter when the motorhome was supplied new - these are not standard van cab seats and our swivels will not fit!
