Safari-Residence:  Already becoming a best seller the new Residence has a modern clean design with large clear windows and a front panel that can be rolled up independently. The entire safari-room design and construction was reviewed for this new product and as a result it is an exceptionally stable system. The fabric is top quality and includes new colours from 2006-7 along with welded seams in the most demanding sections where extra strength is required.  Please note the colour variants on Residence sides - all 'made to size' rooms on 6 weeks delivery have colour keyed sides but ex stock rooms & kits made up from UK components have plain sides as illustrated.  Buy Now >>>

Why a kit?  It contains all most people need. Isn't it dearer?  Well yes, but cheaper than buying the various bits later!  What's in it?  Sides with Windows, Front with Window & Door, Vehicle Skirt, Skirt Rail, Fabric Curtains, Hold Down.  Why a skirt?  It stops draughts, rabbits and cats from entering under the 'van, you'll surely not want to experience the after effects of a visit from a tom-cat!!  Why a hold-down? To stop the room acting like a kite, it provides extra holding power combined with elastic shock absorption to stop a blustery breeze from working the securing pegs out of the ground. Do I have to have the full kit? No you can opt for any combination you want with a full price adjustment, we just say kits are the best value!

Residence Kits:  The popular '5 Series' Safari-Rooms have always been available as complete kits from motorcaravanning and we're pleased to extend the idea to the Safari-residence for the 5000, 6000 and 8000 series. Please see the separate page for the 6000 roof mount series. Residence caters for awning lengths from 2.65m upwards. Our complete Residence Kits include side & front panels with poles & clips, a blue or grey fabric curtain set to choice, a 4½m wind-slip (vehicle skirt), a hold down kit and 3m or more of skirt fixing rail (NB: not all of these items are included in headline prices elsewhere!). The two sides each have a window, one with mosquito screen, and the colour matched front panel has both a window and a roll-up door. Rooms of 3.5m upwards have a zippered front window. The front panels can now be rolled up in situ or the window dropped down to produce an open fronted room. Great on hot days and for traders too!  Larger room kits of 5m upwards come with an extra curtain and extra length of skirt fixing rail. Additional skirt rail is supplied for long awnings but the rail cannot be supplied separately due to shipping problems. Other options include additional Rafters to help repel rain. For the Autotrail recessed awnings of 3 to 4.5m please remember to order the special sides supplement as below. Mounted Height:  These kits cover the common projections of 2.50m and 2.75m for the 5500 awnings and the common mounting heights in the range 2.20m to 2.60m as standard. Extra high rooms of 2.60m to 2.90m and beyond can be made to order at extra cost. This mounting height is measured from the underside of the mounted awning body to level ground. The sizing is slightly different to the old Safari-room so Medium is now 2.30m to 2.45m and large is 2.45m to 2.60m. The larger XL fits 2.60m to 2.75m and the XXL fits 2.75 to 2.90m, these larger sizes carry a small extra charge as below. 

Autotrail:  Motorcaravanning have long offered the Omnistor Safari-room and Safari-Residence to fit Autotrail recessed awnings and routinely put together kits containing the special sides for Autotrail fitting. Regrettably some problems have emerged recently with the new chassis providing extra vehicle height at the rear. This means that the front of the room has to be taller to allow the motorhome door to open freely. In turn this means we must supply extra height 'xl' special sides to go with the extra height front. At the moment these aren't standard products so we will achieve this by ordering a made-to-size special for you. Please note though that made-to-size awnings take about 4-6 weeks for delivery. To see if you need this taller version simply erect your existing awning so that it clears the door and then measure the front height. If it is ~1.85m then it is standard, if it is ~2.0m or so then it is one of the XL specials. This applies to all lengths except 2.6m which is not available as a room at all. To order a standard room simply order a suitable length standard kit below and add the Autotrail sides item. For an XL version please contact us for assistance. 

New - Groundsheets:  Breathable ground-sheets now available in a quality neutral grey fabric, usually as illustrated right as the base material. Various lengths from 3.0 -5.0m all at 2.5m wide will suit the majority of Safari / Residence rooms. These are usually despatched separately from other goods. Variations possible at our discretion. 

The Right Fit & Match:  To get exactly the right fit we will check with you the awning model, length, mounting height and colour choice; we will happily help you with all this before or after placing your order. You can find all this info for yourself if you want to, it is on the bar coded label inside the awning casing. The long number there gives us almost everything we need to know about your awning - everything except the mounted height which you have to measure yourself. Popular colours like Blue Sky, Alaska Grey, Curacao Blue and Bahamas will be held in stock in the UK in most lengths up to 5m.
