Autotrail: Many Autotrail semi-recessed awnings will take the standard product when supplied with the special AT sides but - some later Autotrail require a made to size room with an unusually high front to accommodate the high door position. Please do email us for help with this. New from late 09 Autotrail now use colour 04 - Alaska Grey which replaces the traditional colour 18 Bahamas Turquoise. Velcro Awnings: Some earlier models used Velcro fixings notably the 5800 & 6800/6802 models. These are always specials so please do send an on-line or email message when ordering for these.
A Normal Room consists of 2 side panels both with 1 window, 1 front
panel with 1 window or 2 windows for a room of 5m or more. A vehicle skirt
is included. Our Kits contain items not included in headline
prices elsewhere - curtains and skirt fixing rail for example! A
highly recommended optional extra is a hold-down kit and possibly a
supplementary rafter.
Different mounting heights are of course catered for. The mounted height is measured from level ground to the underside of the mounted awning casing. It is normal to measure this at each end of the awning because many vehicles sit 'tail up', a few some are nose up. Please note that it is important to measure both ends even if the vehicle / awning looks level! Naturally there are extra costs in making extra large awnings so supplements apply for XL height of 2.60-2.74m and XXL height of 2.75-2.90m and over, these are listed below. This is the measurement B on the diagram above - measured out along the awning from vehicle wall to the front of the front rail (not out at right angles nb). Most awnings including all the newer 5002, 5003 and 6002 will be the 'standard' 2.50m. A few awnings notably the 8000 and 6900 are extra wide at 2.75m. The tricky ones are the older models like the 5000, 5800 and 6802 where 2.75m may have been supplied on some longer versions only - please check these yourself to be sure! Room / Residence? Many of these add-on rooms are referred to as 'Safari-rooms', so this has become a generic term a bit like Biro or Hoover or Silver Screens. Strictly speaking though a Safari-room is the original add-on room to fit Omnistor awnings. There are actually two different products now and although similar there are differences. The original Safari-Room was able to accommodate some curvature in the vehicle side and so is still used wherever this is important - on many panel van conversions and some Hobby coachbuilts for example. The newer Safari-Residence has an updated appearance and greater rigidity in the framework but the penalty is that it cannot be used on curved sided vehicles. So in general choose a 'Residence' unless you have a curved side to accommodate then choose a 'Room'. A hybrid is possible if you prefer the appearance; on request we can supply the Room sides with a Residence front (but not the more rigid Residence frame). Confused? Safari-Residence
made to size: For very little additional cost over standard we
can tailor-make a Residence to suit your particular Omnistor
installation - new or existing. We can make these to suit the 5000 &
8000 side-mounted series and the 6000 roof-mounted series. These 'made to measure' versions
have matched colour-ways on both sides and front rather than just front. At modest extra cost different door
positions can be specified and windows modified if required. It is
also possible to raise the front height if the 'caravan door' is awkwardly
high in relation to the awning. Naturally enough, Omnistor require written details of the awning length,
mounting height, and colour for us to order the correct product for you.
NB Residence is only for flat-sided vehicles.

as viewed from the outside as illustrated but these options give you the opportunity to change things
around if you wish, supplements will apply to these changes and to
