Their high quality and universal application makes them ideal for vehicle and equipment manufacturers, and naturally enough for their customers too! Pro Car products are found in cars, motorhomes, caravans, trucks and boats. You'll also see them pre-fitted to many accessories like cooler boxes and fridges. Lighter Sockets v DIN sockets? Because there is no
universally agreed specification for vehicle Lighter sockets and
because these sockets were never designed to be used for such an array
of accessories as they now are, the DIN Standard socket and corresponding
plug were designed. And now - so that accessories can be used in either type of
socket, Pro Car offer their well known red-topped plug
which can be used in either kind of socket simply by removing or
replacing the twist off red cap. They also make many
extremely useful adapters and adapter leads and splitter leads to convert from one to the other. 
General
info & Dimensions: The DIN plug is the preferred type for powering
accessories and is fitted to most European motorhomes. The Lighter
Socket is still common in the UK though. To make life easier we
offer adaptors to convert from one to the other. We've
tried to be specific about types here but you might also find references to
'standard' = 'DIN' and to L.S. / LS = Lighter Socket or LT = Lighter Type.
Universal fits either, just twist off the red cap to convert from LS to DIN
and twist back on to convert back to LS; easy! The other standard to
refer to is the maximum allowed current, these days that is normally 8Amps (about
100W). It is also possible to use up to 16A (nearly 200W) but only if using
one of the Heavy Duty items on offer and also only if your vehicle fuse and
socket wiring support it. DIN Sockets go in an 18mm dia hole and most
LS go into a 1" dia ~25mm dia hole but some 'power socket' and
push-in versions may
require a 28mm hole. Procar extension leads are generally about 4m for the
flat type or
60-300 cm approx for coiled. 
24v
to 12v Convertors: These extremely useful converters plug into
24v Lighter or DIN sockets and provide twin 12v Lighter socket outputs.
We can supply a range of budget and of high tech voltage converters with
outputs from 4A to 30A and prices from £9.95 to £195! The budget versions listed below are perfect for running 'ordinary' 12v
appliances like phone chargers, laptops etc, in a truck for example,
just choose between 5A and 20A total output. For the switched mode
