Fluctuations in the voltage supply may cause failure or even damage to them". As we understand it that means capacitive loads like low energy bulbs and things like switch mode chargers - these are the newer design lightweight chargers for laptops, notebooks, mobile phones, etc. In these cases a Pure sine wave inverter is the only sensible choice to protect your other - expensive - items from damage.

Their surge ratings will cope with the higher start up requirements of some of these appliances. Pure Sine Wave Inverters:  sine wave inverters generate a pure sine wave alternating current from a 12- or 24-volt battery current. These are especially suited for electric appliances that are sensitive to fluctuations in the onboard power supply, and also for power-intensive items. These are the ones recommended for use with switch mode chargers and certainly for use with any laptop with a built-in power supply. Said to be the inverter of choice for motorhomes, yachts and buses, with the larger units ideal for building in.
