New Season, New Products, New
Prices: Most Gaslow pages are under revision. All the wizards
are still operational but the prices are out of date on any page showing
this message. Many of our competitors' pages are also out of date - but
they're not telling you! The one page here guaranteed to be bang up to
date is
www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/gaslow_all_catalogue.htm
This is an on-line wizard if you arrived
directly via a search click here to get back to the starting page!
Not
sure? Well we're not surprised, specifying a
gas system can be something of a nightmare for many of us.
This
is especially true if we don't all want to end up with exactly the same
features and if we don't all start from the same point or with the same
budget. There seem to be a huge number of products and options but not all
are always appropriate, which is all very confusing. To make it easier for you
we've created an on-line wizard to cover all the normal solutions to gas
system problems.
So what
do I have to do?
Just answer the questions on this and following
pages to be taken
step
by step to the the right information for your own needs.
On the way you'll be presented
with opportunities to add recommended products to your shopping basket
to make up your very own conversion kit. Please don't be afraid to do this -
it means you can build, and cost, your very own carefully tailored kit. You aren't
committing to buy anything until you choose to checkout - or not as you
choose. In the
meantime you can add or remove items at any time and can choose to place an order or
to
simply print the contents of your basket for reference and then clear the entries.
You can even order by phone using your print-out.

On any
journey it is very important to take the correct turn at the outset, so the
first question is about the age of your existing gas system, soon to be followed by
which gas you now use. We need to know in particular whether it is the new
'30mbar' standard introduced in 2004 or perhaps the more traditional
pre-2004 system. These pictures are to help identify exactly what
system you have now.
Info:
The picture at top right is of the new style universal regulator introduced
in 2004 that
operates at '30 mbar' and can accept gas from either Butane or Propane
bottles. Note how the two-stage construction results in a distinct 'twin'
appearance. In general these new units are wall mounted inside the gas
cupboard.
In contrast, the
old pre-2004 regulators were usually attached to the gas bottles
themselves. Each old style regulator is for only one type of gas and
operating at a special pressure for that gas - 28 mbar for Butane and 37mbar
for Propane, these figures are usually marked on the units. We've
illustrated some mounted with optional gauges on the gas bottles to the
right. These regulators are often colour coded too - as illustrated
above right.
Just to
confuse us there can be exceptions to the expected wall or bottle mounting
when change-over units are fitted so it is actually the regulator itself
that has to be examined to reliably establish the system type. To illustrate
the point a modern wall mounted change-over unit is illustrated above left -
but note that this one is fitted with an old style regulator!
Question: Do you have a new style
post 2004 regulator? YES
NEW STYLE NO OLDER TYPE
