HARO DX Folding Mountain Bike:   As previous 'Leto' supplied by us and reviewed in Motor Caravan magazine where it got one of their recommended awards!  In the smart new Haro Silver & Red livery for 2007 and back to Silver & Blue in 2008!. A quality folding unisex cycle with full size wheels in the modern mountain bike style and quite unlike conventional small wheel “Mary Poppins” style folding bikes!  A very popular weekender bike for off road / green lane enthusiasts and for those who prefer and can accommodate a substantial full size folding bike.

The HARO DX Cycle is made by Samchuly who are Korea’s renowned and largest bicycle manufacturer and have made bicycles for nearly 60 years.  They have a reputation of making quality cycles to ISO9001 standard and supplied bikes to the 1988 Olympics and to the FIFA 2002 World Cup.  Despite its quality construction this is a recreational bike and not actually designed for hurling yourself off mountain sides competitively - you'll be pleased to know!  NB. All detail specs are from the Leto DX, we believe all are the same for both Will & Haro DX.

The HARO DX mountain bike has 21 gears, twist grip gear shift, alloy rims, 26x1.95 tyres, front/rear suspension, sprung seat,  v-brakes, folding pedal and stand. It weighs in at 16 Kg and at just under 90x90x30cm folded it is an ideal size for putting in to the back of any motorhome, caravan, 4x4, boat, or car! Supplied without pump.

Mountain bikes use a different riding position and frame sizing to conventional bikes. This bike design puts great emphasis on compactness as you'd expect and plays clever tricks within the 16" frame size to achieve a small folded size with full size wheels. Some tall cyclists who particularly like a traditional very high-ride road-bike position might like to sacrifice a little folded compactness by fitting a longer seat post to give more room for longer legs. I've bought a longer post myself - it increases the max seat height from the 34" (Leto)* right up to to 41" making the bike suitable for giants! The rest of us and especially the younger generation will however take to it like ducks to water without any modification at all.  The other important dimension on a unisex design is the stand-over height of 25", this is OK for shorter people - tested as OK on a just 5' lady. All new models seem to have a slightly longer seat post giving at least an extra 1" height so fewer people now need the longer post!

Perfect for commuting and weekending or more by car, bus, motorhome, train or even plane! No need for cycle racks, can be carried easily and unfolded for use in seconds without the use of any tools using the built-in quick release levers. Folds to under 30x90x90 cm without removing wheels, pedals, etc. /p>

We've been asked about the non-indexed gear shift. This isn't a problem at all in practice since it is multi-click-stopped with a graduated scale and there's plenty of 'feel' when changing gear - both front and rear. We believe that this is actually another clever adaptation to the folding design where any slight problems of adjustment on a fully indexed system would give trouble whereas this system is self-adapting and copes really well with a repeated folding and unfolding life.

Carry Bag:  New for 2005, we can now supply a carry bag for one bike with a long zip around three sides plus carrying handles so that it can be carried over your shoulder.  This isn't cheap but is heavy duty with a water resistant internal coating and is tough enough to cope!  The pictures show how the bike can be loaded in two different ways to suit you.  In each case the bars and seat are lowered, if a longer post is fitted the seat and post should be removed.  Quick release levers are of course standard.  The generous three sided zip allows full opening for easy loading and the handles at both top and bottom allow both shoulder carrying and better loading into vehicles.  The simple 'square' design not only makes for versatility but also offers an ample 'gap' for stowing helmets, waterproofs, etc.  These pictures also give an idea of bulk, which is actually quite substantial - it's bound to be really with those excellent full size wheels.

It's fairly light, it folds to a size that will easily fit into a car boot and the gearing is excellent. On the few short trips that I have made on this bike I found it surprised me every time. The ride is smooth. The suspension really does it's job well, both front and rear worked well. Even with hard tyres you hardly felt the bumps. It was responsive, fast and easy to ride. The gear change is a twist grip design which is uncomplicated and easy to use ... Though not sold as a true mountain bike, this machine would handle most things the occasional/weekend user could throw at it. Along the trails and cycle paths, along woodland trails with roots and holes this bike handled well ... overall a lovely machine ... I loved this bike".
